Retreats

Currently our multi-day, residential retreats are on hold as we follow Covid health guidelines and restrictions on public gatherings.

Typically, our four-day spring retreats are held over the May long weekend and August six-day retreats are held over Labour Day. Both take place at a remote location in the beautiful Bulkley Valley. Although our retreats are not planned for this year, you can contact us with any questions or to register your interest in upcoming retreats.

Daily yoga and meditation.

Stillness, wilderness and delicious meals.

Held at a remote location in the Bulkley Valley.

Accommodation

This retreat takes place at Hudson Bay Mountain Wilderness Ranch, a spectacular setting on the west flank of the mountain.  Accommodation is shared – cabins (2 to 3 people per room) – or you can bring your own tent or trailer to camp outside.  All vegetarian meals are provided.

• YOUTH:  Young people (16+) who are able & interested to participate (sitting, silence, sustained meditative awareness) are welcome to join our retreats.

Participation and Organization

Our philosophy for this retreat is that it is community-based and participatory. We all share in the creation of an intentional event.  This means everyone helps, either with pre-cooking meals, or at the retreat with meal prep / clean-up and other needs.  A ‘Karma Schedule’ will be posted at the retreat.

Please note that the work is light.  It involves one shift per day and does not interfere with the programs.

Directions

We arrange a car pool from Smithers that leaves from Smithers Art Gallery at the corner of Main Street and the highway at 4:30 pm.  If you are driving, please contact us directly about directions.  You may need a four-wheel drive vehicle.  It takes about 40 minutes to drive from Smithers.

What to bring

Bring clothes for yoga, inside sitting meditation, outside jackets and boots for hiking / snow / rain / sun… it all depends on the weather!  Sleeping arrangements inside are shared rooms, mattresses are provided.  Bring your own bedding, toiletries, and towels.  You are welcome to bring any journaling material, art supplies, relevant books.  Please leave pets, perfumes, electronics, and portable media at home.  Showers can be arranged on request.

This is a rustic, rural retreat in a mountain environment.  There are long walks between the cabins and meditation and dinner halls.  Elevation is higher than in town and temperatures can be colder. Please be prepared for a whole range of weather!
